THE AGENCY
		"MAF Serviços Literários" is a literary agency located in São Paulo, the most dynamic cultural center of Latin America. This position, gives us a very unique environment, to welcome all the contemporary publishing tendencies from all over the world. Conscious of our role as literary agents and the great power of the written words, we do encourage diversity by accepting literary works that may be taken as "too controversial". We strongly believe that freedom of the mind and the spirit can only be achieved by the confrontation with the "strange", the "exotic" or the "unusual", that may lead us to a better undertanding of our inner selves and consequently a conscious acceptance of the thoughts and ideas from the outside world. Furthermore, also aware of the present expansion of the Brazilian publishing market, we are not limited only to the big and medium-sized publishing houses, usually concentrated on the cultural axis Rio-Sao Paulo. We also visit and keep close contact with small publishers, all spread across this huge country. So, that is why we believe, being based here, to be able not only to defeat Brazil's great distances, but also give publishers the right attention and the appropriate maintenance of these contacts. Besides, what a great experience it has been, visiting publishers from so many different regions, expressing genuine interest, and always open to what the publishing world has to offer. In addition, concerning the "exclusive issue", certainly we do respect other agency's agreements but "to be exclusive" is not our main concern any longer, since time has been proving, that once a good and healthy trading relationship is established, in a natural continuing process, a "non-official" exclusive relation starts to build up on its own.
