What Humankind Can Expect  from Its Future?

         by  Adjiedj Bakas

What are the plausible scenarios and rational prognosis  the future holds for  humanity?

Will we all live together or  shut ourselves away in ethnic ghettos?

Why will Western Europe become to be known as Eurabia?

Who are our future political leaders ?

Why  will we have to confront  this drastical  and already changing scenario  and how  to survive in a  world forced by new superpowers struggling between their old cultural religious background  and the great outstanding  "New Era" , in which   spirituality is going to replace the role of religion?

Based on rational, solid  and well fundamented arguments, "World Megatrends" is powerful, lively, visionary, optimistic and full of insights.  It will inspire  individuals, businesses and organisations  in ways in which we will need to adapt ourselves, our mindsets and business opportunities for the coming next decades...

 THE 1002ND  NIGHT

(Mannenharem: vertelling van de 1002e nacht)

  by Vinco David
Category: Literary Fiction
Original  from the Dutch
Pages:  238
ISBN: 9789055156900
Publisher: Van Gennep, Amsterdam

With film rights sold to the acclaimed and controversial Dutch filmmaker Eddy Terstall and the book’s bestselling status in its home market, Vinco David’s timely novel is destined to cause a stir wherever it is published. The tale-like story is setagainst the background of ancient Mughal India, Portugal and Persia, and in today’s USA, Afghanistan and the Netherlands. It is a story of political intrigue, romance and betrayal with extraordinary resonance for the current fundamentalist drive in Afghanistan, Europe and the Middle East. The novel masterly interweaves historical facts, such as Emperor Babur’s diaries or the construction of the Taj Mahal, with the author’s vivid imagination. Vinco David brings to life Imperial Agra where the Emperor takes pleasure in his male harem, hereby neglecting his wives once he has produced a maleheir - the son who will one day kill his father. It continues with the loss of Mughal power under British colonial rule and ultimately contrasts this with today’s society: in modern Holland and Los Angeles liberal attitudes permeate the South-Asian migrant community. A young descendent of the imperial family struggles with his sexuality.

The 1002nd Night raises issues of multiculturalism in modern Europe, the clashes of cultural mores and the tensions of past and present in the Islamic world. Its publication in Holland was supported by an unusual format - a highly illustrated hardback complete with scents to evoke the world of the spice routes.

About the Author: Vinco David is based in Amsterdam where he works in the financial sector, he has also worked in the UK for a number of years. The 1002nd Night is his first novel but he has previously published non-fiction works.

The 87 years old poet takes us back to his memories in which he reveals his real saga of 23 years of imprisionment and endless physical, emotional and psychological torture during Franco's dictatorship.

Dense and yet lyrical, we are taken through a story of men dealing with complete impotence and with the extremes of the human fragilities. But he also shares with us  these same men's greatness and their capacity to overcome pain, total endurance and prevalence of their ideals of freedom and never the disruption of their sense of identity, of their objectives being preserved and reflected to each other by their own sense of non-disruptive  dignity.

Together also the remembrances of the poet and the artist, confined in his cell, canceling the disturbance of a consuming everlasting hunger and even physical pain, through the lyricism of Neruda's verses or by the composing of his own poems. An outstanding memorable tribute to life and for the human capacity to endure the extremes of agonies through a genuine understanding and consciousness of
their own humanity.

More than just memoirs, a kind of work which touches the wounds of our collective historical consciousness, since it also reflects, not just a dark part of Spain's History, but also the history of so many other countries, including ours

The book also shows the period after his freedom, his exile in France and his continuous, extensive activities and trips around the world as a real international symbol of solidarity, trying to bring up consciousness of our own intrinsic human nature's need of democratic values. Our story starts in Braga, Portugal, in the late XIX century...

The  poor boy who had finally achieved his dream of playing a piano,  should now work hard,  since this was a  time,  in which  social and working reforms were only an ambitious pursue in the minds of a small group of idealistic adults. Children had no options, they were submitted to the worst working conditions which were close to slavery, with no security measures or any kind of privilege. So, in a brief moment he closed his eyes heavy with sleep and exhaustion, dreaming of his piano... But this was suddenly interrupted by a sharp pain, a nauseating feeling and an endless reddish spot blurring his eyes and soul. José had one of his fingers, from his right hand, being chopped off by the printing house's board cutter...

Living in a country  in which everyday we are bombarded with issues of bribery, corruption,  political scandals and escalating violence, and being deprived of good and consistent human leaders references;  so good  Joao Carlos Martins had written his story. No wonder he is so popular among the Brazilians, even by those who had never the opportunity to appreciate a piece from Bach. LF/June 2008

Author’s Biography:

João Carlos Martins was born in 1940. He began his piano lessons at eight and in 1960, he was already giving his first concert, at Carnegie Hall in New York.  Evoking from the critics, superlatives for his "passionate subjectivity" on his performances,  he gained international attention.  Soon later he gave a performance of the 48 Preludes and Fugues from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier in his debut concert in Washington, D.C. , followed by an special performance on all Bach's 48 preludes and fugues in other two  consecutive concerts. During the 1960's, he performed as a soloist with major orchestras throughout the USA (including orchestras in New York, Philadelphia, and Boston) and then ahead to Europe as already the most important   Brazilian classical pianist . He recorded the complete keyboard works of Bach. He was once called one of the best Bach pianists after Glenn Gould. Joao Carlos is  still so very active. Involved in different social projects, he is also  introducing classical music into the poor communities in Sao Paulo.  Still, driven by his incredible will power, he went back to University, so we can see him in the concert  stages again,  but this time as a conductor.

Luciano Ubirajara Nassar
Mr. Nassar had obtained his University degree at PUC Sao Paulo and is a  professor of History, Philosophy and Geography studies. As a writer he had already written several works, also as a  co-author and  biographer. He also gives lectures focusing the social problems among the young people and about the theme "Futebol é Música" (Soccer is like Music).

"All the occurrences in the novel take place in a street at the outskirts of a Romanian provincial town.  The majority of the street’s inhabitants are working class.  Once the “heroes” of the former political regime, they are now the “ballast” of the new order.  Now, they are pensioners or unemployed – the pensioners of a bankrupt socio-economic and political system, in fact.  Cast by history to the margins of the world, their main pass-times become drinking and chatting.  As the characters become absorbed in conversation, reality imperceptibly dematerialises and we enter a construct of group mentality, tributary to the totalitarian epoch.  The world no longer consists of object, but of distorted recollections, nostalgia, phantasms, frustration, clichés, stereotypes, projects, and eccentric fantasies..."

The American Confederacy - 2084.  Nayla, a top scientist and respected board member of the mighty Carsanto Corporation, becomes the country's most wanted fugitive when she impulsively steals the company's only germinator seeds to protect her daughter and save the planet.  The act endangers Carsanto's vicious plan to take control of the world through genetically modified terminator seeds, making farmers - and in effect the world's food supply - reliant on their seeds.  With Carsanto's heartless security officer, The General, in hot pursuit, Nayla flees to the United Canadian Communities where Rowan, a solitary mountain trapper, guides her on a soul-searching adventure to bring the seeds to safety.

At first torn between the harmonious cultures she discovers on the journey and the comforts of the old world she recklessly left behind, Nayla slowly begins to open her heart to the miracles of the universe.  Yet as her old worldview gets destroyed, it leaves her fragile and confused about whom she really is, and uncertain if she has the heart to complete her mission.  Will she be able to recreate herself and escape The General?  Will she be able to save her daughter and allow the seeds of life on earth to germinate?

Seeds not only warns about the dangers of terminator seeds and other destructive practices in our society today, it also brings forth a variety of ideas to design a new sustainable and harmonious society.  This thought-provoking novel from Hugo Bonjean, author of the inspiring bestseller In the Eyes of Anahita, challenges us to connect our day-to-day actions with the dreams we carry in our souls.

"In the style of George Orwell's 1984, Seeds provokes thought and presents ideas for the future we are creating-seeds that will be discussed and debated for decades to come." - Diane Dreher, author and Professor of English, Santa Clara University.

  • This is the true story of the tragic life of Okichi Saito who became the pawn to placate Townsend Harris, the first American Consul to Japan in the turbulent mid 1800's when Japan was being forced to open its doors to the West. This poignant love story takes place during a period in history when the "Black Ships" arrived in Japan and changed many lives, especially those of Okichi and her financé and lover, Tsurumatsu. Like a butterfly, Okichi was beautiful but fragile, easily tossed about and bruised by the stronger forces.

With this objective in mind, Rei has touched on historical events like the horrific sinking of the Awa Maru and the Kamikaze pilots of World War II and woven them into touching stories of the people who lived and died through these events.

"Daughter of the Sun" tells the story of an expedition into the Amazon Rain Forest, so far from the most secured, well protected and planned trips.

The author is able to get into the hearts and souls of these travellers , who left the comfortable borders of their "civilization" for the unknown ... - in addition, unexpected life and world views are revealed and rapidly, like the current of the river they travel, the flow of the story changes...

"Daughter of the Sun" is an adventure novel, but it brings back real history through a fascinating journey. Still this fascinating world, right into the heart of the Amazon is not only the center of the text itself. She is also able to bring up philosophical and political issues, that many times, if ever spoken, is always interrupted - The unseen bridge from Europe to South America; between history and the current political policies with  its devastating effects... between poetic fiction and the concreteness of a non-fiction reality waiting to be confronted.(at least inside our own consciousness)

The author approaches her topics not romantically, but with an analytic eye,but  at the same time she is able to show an "affectionated distance". Some may think she reminds travel writers like Bruce Chatwin but much better in its own aspects. Its human crudeness together with the Mother Nature exploding with all its savage beauty, but still well balanced poetry, love for the humankind, love for this raw land and her love  for the Mother Earth Itself. No doubt, "Daughter of the Sun" is a literary report that will catch you "magically" and take you into an exotic world, which remains probably locked for most of us since we would never dare venture ourselves into these "paradise-hells" so full of pulsing life, wisdom and beauty.
About the Author: Ms. Nürberg was born in Graz and there studied German and French Philology but later went to the Sorbonne University. She was also involved for several years with Art Management. She now lives in Vienna. Apart from her literary works, she also publishes articles for several daily newspapers and magazines. A traveler herself, she had extensively travelled throughout Brazil and Latin America.

"For every suicide, it is estimated that there are six deeply affected survivors, and the World Health Organization reported one million (indisputable) suicides in 2000. Conservatively: each night, over eighty-two thousand people will try to kill themselves. Some call on pills and nooses as their advocates; others use knives guns cliffs gas. Out of these eighty-two thousand lives, some three thousand are snuffed. Conservatively: each morning, over sixteen thousand hearts will break.

"What will happen to them? What happens to all those shattered after a loved one has committed suicide. Antonella Gambotto has given voice to these people"
"The text enthralls ... " - Anna-Leena Härkönen, Finnish author
A narrative both haunting and irresistible ... Given a cast of characters that includes familiar names from the worlds of journalism, literature, and film, the story has elements one might expect to find in a bestselling novel of the sort that ends up as a Lifetime network movie of the week. But the reader encounters instead the diametric opposite of melodrama, a stark emotional reality expressed through the author's remarkable literary gifts."

     JAPANESE ROSE
       by Rei Kimura

"Japanese Rose" is a haunting story of the secret life and love of Sayuri Miyamoto, the  woman who DID dare to take on the whole Japanese military to follow her dream of becoming a kamikaze pilot and paid dearly for that dream.

“No one must ever know there was a female kamikaze pilot to dishonor and disgrace the discipline of the Japanese military so from today, you Sayuri Miyamoto are officially dead!”
This book also takes readers on a sad journey through the ravages of war torn Japan seen from the eyes of a young woman who cherished the impossible and forbidden dream of becoming a female kamikaze pilot.

“Who is this? And why do you call me by this name? It hasn’t been used for 60 years!” the crisp irritable voice had changed to a soft, quivering whisper like the moaning of an injured animal and it made Mayumi uncomfortable at her intrusion into someone’s obviously painful past.

With these words , Sayuri Miyamoto finally broke the silence that had been imposed on her for decades. But History will never admit or accept her existence so was she real or a myth born of the feverish imagination of one woman with an unfulfilled dream?

THE MONKEY TRIAL - The Contest Between Evolution and Christianity and the Prophecies of an Old Biochemist

    ABOUT THE BOOK:
In 1925, in the Baptist stronghold of Dayton, Tennessee, a young teacher was brought to trial and later condemned for having violated the law which banned the teaching of Darwinian evolution in the classroom. The proceedings were to be known as «The Monkey Trial». It was the trial of the century in America. In December 2005, at Harrisburg, there were another performance of this conflict, but on reversed sides. The teaching of «intelligent design» was judged unconstitutional as «pure descendant of the creationism» and as assuming the intervention of a «supernatural power» in nature. These trials are only two of the several possible exemplifications of the deep division that still tears the United States and sets the popular conscience against the liberal establishment on what remains a crucial issue not only for the American cultural identity, but also for that of the whole western world: religion’s space and role in the society.

In his book, Giulio Meotti brings out the manifold aspects and the effective consequences of this conflict and shows how the Darwinian doctrine has abandoned the ground of the mere naturalistic science to become rather a social ideology championing its own model of humanity. According to this model, for the «benefit of human beings», practices like artificial reproduction, euthanasia and the destruction of the embryos are to be established and spread (Erwin Chargaff – the “old biochemist” – spoke about a new «molecular Auschwitz»). The term that best expresses this disturbing tendency is «Eugenics». And, once again, the United States provide the starting points for a meditation of the whole western world, according to Meotti. It is true that the United States do be the setting of some of the most bewildering acts of scientific and medical abuse of the 20th century. From the sterilization of a hundred thousand Americans considered «unfit», carried out in  most cases even after the Nazi folly, to the more recent case of Terri Schiavo, sentenced to death from starvation on the ground of the concept that it was not right to make distinctions between her sad smiles and the mechanical behaviour of «sunflowers that follow the movement of the sun in the sky»

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Giulio Meotti, graduated in Philosophy, is journalist at Il Foglio, the Italian daily newspaper noted for its position counter the prevailing winds and politically incorrect.

Recent scientific research on "NED's" has proved a new set of phenomenology that due to its intrinsic humanistic nature, invites us to share through the eyes of a girl, the beauty and the  teachings of her experience while facing her own death.

We're confronted with our own mortality but in a concrete way. Through science it shows that death can only be a passage and not the definite end of our existences. The whole story is not heavy as it first  appears to be,  quite the opposite, it's a message of hope and the assurance of our eternal continuity and by the end of the book, we just can't avoid to feel better about our dear ones already gone through death,  and a relief when someday we will have to confront with ours.

    About the Author:
Mrs. Elsaesser-Valarino was born in Switzerland. She lives close to Geneva and works at the local university. For 25 years she has devoted most of her time to study NEDs matters and she writes books and articles on the subject. She also give lectures and participates at International NDE congresses. She is also a coordinator of the Scientific and Medical Network of Western Switzerland.
She is also the author of "The Other Side of Life" and "Lessons from the Light" . Besides English, her books have also been translated into French, Italian, German, Dutch, Czech, Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish.
    Reviews:

'Gripping reading. The only other book that it calls to mind is Tolstoy’s Death of Ivan Ilyich, although Ivan does not achieve the wisdom displayed in this book. The format is a tour de force. The simplicity of the narrative structure provides the vehicle through which spiritual wisdom is formulated and transmitted in an eminently palatable fashion. Once you read this book you will understand why human life is such a gift and can be passed on to those in need.'
-- David Lorimer, Scientific and Medical Network Review, December 2005
'The description of an NDE is very impressive and very complete. A very good and important book.'
-- Pim van Lommel, author of Near Death Experience In Survivors of Cardiac Arrest: A Prospective Study in the Netherlands, The Lancet
"Talking With Angel" is a powerful story of a young girl who becomes a woman during her intense struggle with a life-threatening illness. I recommend this book highly to every-one who values personal growth and spiritual transformation.'
-- Bill Guggenheim, author of Hello From Heaven
'So intimate that you feel yourself "inside" the girl, caring what she thinks, feels, during crucial moments. The description of the near-death experience is among the most riveting accounts I have yet read about the phenomenon and its aftereffects. The book is simply incredible! Highly recommended for older children, parents, and anyone coming to grips with life and death issues -- regardless of age.'
-- P. M. H. Atwater, author of The New Children and Near-Death Experiences and Beyond the Indigo Children
'From her acknowledged position as one of the world's most well-known researchers and writers on the near-death experience, Evelyn Elsaesser-Valarino produces an evocative and moving story about dying. Elsaesser-Valarino's triumph is in providing a genuine resource -- not simply for all children and parents desiring education about death and dying, but as one of the few books in the world one can put into the hands of a child who is facing a life-threatening illness.'
-- Dr Allan Kellehear, Professor of Palliative Care, La Trobe University, Melbourne
'Honestly, I was very moved by the story’s emotional power and the depth of the teachings it conveys. I found the story gripping from the very beginning, but I think what hit me the most was the account Evelyn Elsaesser-Valarino wrote, in epistolary form, of James’ near-death experience. It is simply one of the best and richest accounts (even if it is fiction) of an NDE I’ve ever come across. I don’t think it is saying too much to claim that in itself this bit of writing is a masterpiece.'
-- Dr Kenneth Ring, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, University of Connecticut

The transforming power, the feminine face of God, is the world-mother who is at the base of the visible creation. To become complete and to restore the balance on Earth, we have to descend in our own underworld to initiate this lacking part in ourselves again.

Our amputated other half, the power of the receiving and creating Mother, yearns to be acknowledged. No longer can we ignore her cry for help. Integration is the only way to make the transition to the new world in which both, men and women, lovingly and respectfully will work together. God is male and female; Light can only exist by grace of the Darkness.

No doubt, Maria Magdelena was the only woman during Jesus’ time who representes the perfect balance between the saint and the hooker: the harmony between the upper-world and the under-world, between the powers of heaven and hell, the conscious and the subconscious. She descended into hell: she went through the seven gates of initiation. In doing so, she brought her dark powers in balance with her sacredness. She became the ultimate female: the primeval woman, the primeval mother who could be the cradle of spiritualism. Only when we restore the balance between light and darkness, when we integrate and hug both poles inside of us, the human will become a full Human.

ABOUT THE BOOK: (From the Publisher)
"Deep Heet is a two-part gritty and dramatic work examining the inception and use of a previously unknown powerful hallucinogenic pleasure drug suddenly thrust upon the people of Southern California. Called “The Ultimate High”, Deep Heet automatically replaces heroin and crack cocaine as the racy drug of choice among the diverse and adverse groups and lifestyles of present-day Los Angeles.

Introduced to the world by a wayward member of an L.A. gang who misspelled the word: Heat, the coolish “Heet” stuck fast and spread even faster. Called Deep Heet for the lasting warm sensation experienced after its initial devastating rush, Deep Heet induces painted, swirling visuals, feelings of extreme euphoria and total mental well-being. As it zips all bodily functions hypercritical causing heart failure and brain damage and complete metabolic dependence. In time people all over the world are selling everything from corporations to babies to obtain Deep Heet.

From the struggling poor of South-Central, to the fast-track high-tech towers of West Los Angeles to the glitter and ritz of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Deep Heet leaves its insidious calling card; destroying lives and wrecking fortunes. Here, the novel gives unique insight into the lives and struggles of people living on the precipice of twenty-first-century Los Angeles and its incessant racial-age-social group and class turmoil. Where massive amounts of money; treacherous gangstas and the trappings of sex, mansions, sleek cars, hip-hop and rampant drug use whirlwinds the day. And destroys the soul. Where loyalties are fleeting, friendships hard to find and families non-existent.
"Deep Heet" is a radical mind-boggling read sure to stir the consciousness of all who turn the pages..."

The Villa Tung is the latest remarkable book by Anthony L. Williams, a chronicler of events, a world traveler publisher of his own magazine. He has written and published several works including sci-fi novels such as The Derelict! and the When Seas Die Trilogy as well as urban thrillers such as Deep Heet: The Ultimate High.

"You have been given a legacy, Mr Tanaka. The Villa Tung. The Villa Tung in central China. Here you will find Asian history and Oriental intrigue so stark and so unflinching, it will strangle you. Go there. Stay for one year. If you have the courage."

And with this cryptic inducement, UCLA professor and fourth-generation Japanese-American Mitsu "Mike" Tanaka and his brother Ryoji "Rudy" Tanaka embark upon the most fantastic and dangerous epic of their entire lives. The unwitting Tanaka brothers, their associates, and young members of UCLA’s Club Asia go to China on this dastardly quest to find murder and horror before they reach their final destiny: The abandoned walled township of The Villa Tung.

The year is 2006. But the angry vestiges of The Villa Tung do not rest so easily. Many terrible things happened in Villa Tung villainous history, which the Tanaka brothers must face, and try and somehow resolve. Even if during this wrenching process it drives them both to the point of suicide and outright murder. In the rain-drenched, deserted lanes of The Villa Tung many things stir the sanity of these 16 Americans. The least of which is logical discernment. The Americans find a disturbing Pandora’s Box of restive China history, intrigue, time travel and tangible antiquity, abandoned in place. A forbidden cultural enigma where all clocks stop in the late summer of 1945. And the Second World War never really does end. Here they must face and endure the inscrutable likes of "Dragon Lady" Qui-Li Chang-the tall, insane dowager of The Villa Tung. The scarred, scowling apostolate who is humanly suspect, present-day irreconcilable and dangerously infamous. Who at the spry age of 44 actually lived before and during the horror which was the Second World War. Quiet, angry and dispossessed, Madam Chang carries with her a century of inhuman hardship, burdensome old-family ties, Taoist dogma and incredible Shaolin powers, soon to be exposed. She is the lonely lady overseer of The Villa Tung, filled in her own mind-boggling China secrets. With a hair-trigger vindictiveness to hurl appalling Eastern demons upon her enemies at will. Is she dead? Is she alive? Or a diabolical mixing of both.

Face if you will the mortifying majesty of The Villa Tung; where old hatreds die hard. Where the Japanese Imperial Army ruled supreme for over 50 years. A broiling caldron of ghastly history, which turns Asian against Asian; in a violent, forsaken setting, languishing in the shadow of China’s storied Great Wall.

The Villa Tung - where madness and infamy transform this remote China township into a biological killing factory during the dark days of World War II.
The Villa Tung - where The Rape of Nanking and the House of Frankenstein meet and mingle at an unbelievable and lamentable nexus; in an exotic land.
The Villa Tung - where monsters and time travel are facts of life.
The Villa Tung - where on New Moon nights zombie-like, flesh-eating Harridans roam and terrorize.
The Villa Tung - where inviolate rusting freight cars loaded in gold and ancient treasure looted from all over Asia, sit and wither. And uncut diamonds the size of eyeballs lie underfoot like cast aside confetti.
The Villa Tung - abandoned, unmapped and punishable by death if spoken of, in present-day China.
The Villa Tung –a hated, howling graveyard where war, history, upheaval and human tragedy thrust themselves upon the contemporary stage in powerful choking tendrils of "Bitter Path" protecting incense, and mind-muddling opium smoke.
The Villa Tung - where the opening of the wrong door can mean the release of bemusing secrets, none of them good.
The Villa Tung - where fire-breathing moat dragons lightly slumber. Where clay-hewn, evil warlord General Yin and his legion of terra-cotta soldiers guard the treasures with unstoppable, murdering impetus.
The Villa Tung - go there. Stay for one year…"If you have the courage."

"In the Eyes of Anahita tells the story of a corporate executive’s awakening during a two-week business trip in South America where he gets confronted with both extreme richness and blatant poverty. During a number of mystical encounters with women of different ages, all of whom have the same dark, mysterious eyes, he is given two questions which he must answer in order to return balance to today’s polarized world..."Are human beings being human? Is a global society a social globe?
As he ponders these questions, he has a spiritual experience that helps him to transcend the duality between good and evil and discover his truth. Not only does this allow him to develop a holistic model for conducting business, but it helps him to refocus his life and integrate his soul’s purpose in all that he does so that he ultimately finds inner peace, harmony and happiness...
The author has chosen to present this important material in the form of a mystical adventure story since he believes it is necessary to make an emotional journey into this world of contrasts in order to effectively challenge and broaden readers’ perspectives.
About the Author: "...Hugo Bonjean was born in Antwerp, Belgium on February 8th, 1965...
As a critical thinker with a strong sense for humanitarian issues he decided to study Social and Political Sciences at the University of Louvain. However when he realized that a world revolving around money could only become sustainable through understanding and adjusting its driving economics, he changed direction and graduated in Antwerp with a B.S. in Accounting and completed his M.B.A. at the European University... Just before he finished his graduate work, Holiday Inn Worldwide asked him to help them with their European expansion. Holiday Inn was the beginning of a career that would eventually take Bonjean all over the world.
The fast pace, challenges, successes and losses of the real life monopoly game that we call business, totally consumed Bonjean. His joy and skill for the game were reflected in his fast paced career during which he managed to obtain one victory after the other. But while accumulating wealth and glory, he had forgotten his humanitarian values—the reason why he had entered the business arena in the first place. At the age of 26 his 18-year-old brother died in a car accident, which was for Bonjean the start of a new search for the meaning of life. In his spare time he studied different philosophical and religious works, and ultimately found himself most comfortable with the ancient Chinese philosophy of Tao which was pragmatic and based on universal principles that could be observed in nature. When he started to apply Tao principles as part of his leadership style his business success improved even more. Following an urge to get closer to nature, he moved with his family in 1997 to Calgary, Canada. From there he managed the West American and Canadian franchise service division of Holiday Inn.

    Reviews:
__"In the Eyes of Anahita" is a captivating read that presents profound truth in the entertaining guise of fiction.  Hugo Bonjean shares the story of a wisdom quest in the tradition of James Redfield's Celestine Prophecy and Daniel Quinn's Ishmael, but with deeper practical and spiritual insights.  Highly recommended."   -Dr. David C. Korten, international bestselling author of When Corporations Rule the World, and board chair, YES! A journal of Positive Future.
__"Hugo Bonjean’s novel is a spellbinding journey of discovery. Magically woven, suspenseful and evocative, it takes us from the world we know into the heart of what it means to be human."        -Diane Dreher, author of The Tao of Personal Leadership and Professor of English, Associate Dean, College of Arts & Sciences, Santa Clara University
__"In the Eyes of Anahita" reads like The Celestine Prophecy but goes to a much deeper level of understanding the global connection all humans have with one another and with our Earth.  This is a very powerful book and I wish everyone would read it!"    -Kimberley Jaeger, reporter, Common Ground, Boston, MA

So many books have already been written about Van Gogh but none has approached the master with such humanity and sensitiveness as Mr. Cafiero does, by seeing and writing about Van Gogh's through the eyes and the effects  of so many remarkable women that once had crossed Van Gogh's life.

"... through the description and the analysis of the figures of the women whom he violently loved, women of flesh, woman-guides (Mrs Jones), woman-mothers (Kee, His, Margot), woman-prohibited (Mrs. Roulin, Mrs. Ginoux) and of the places in which Vincent registered his passions (Isleworth, Amsterdam, Borange, Arles, Saint-rémy, Auvers-on-Oise).

These places played an importany part in the growth of his character and in the development of his art in his continuing pursuit to capture colours, atmosphere and effects of light.  Giuseppe Cafiero is able to show the life of the great master and the book shows that it is impossible to understand the man without getting close to the nature of Van Gogh's obssessions.

This very profound and enthralling work is composed of ten chapters, each one depicting a place and a woman which played an important part in the life of Van Gogh. The author has based in an exhaustive study and research of all the correspondence of Vincent Van Gogh, in which reveals the living portrait of a complex man and the painful combat that Vincent Van Gogh had to go throughout his life..."

Here are the women and its corresponding places which played a great effect on the man and the master:
              Ursule Loyer (London)

    Mrs Jones (Isleworth)

     Kee Vos (Etten)

     Sien Hoornik (den Haag)

    Margot Begemann (Nuenen)

    Agostina Segatori (Paris)

    Rachel (Arles)

    Mme Augustine Roulin (Arles)

Mme Ginoux (Arles – St. Rémy)

Johanna Van Gogh (Paris – Auvers-sur-Oise)

"The text includes extensive quotations from “The Complete Letters of Vincent Van Gogh”. The result is a complex psychological portrait of the man and a moving record of his struggle to find his way as an artist, giving due recognition to the influence of persons and places"

We are deeply involved in his various attempts to escape by swimming the whole night from the Russian city Batumi across the Black Sea to Turkey, but this time being defeated by the currents that swept him off the right course. Other attempts followed when he swimming with a snorkel and a small uninflated raft and in another occasion leapt off in the middle of the night from a Russian Cruise ship and swimming  to freedom for over twenty four hours through shark infested sea waters...

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

"Thomas Thorpe writes in nineteenth century genre, but has a background in space exploration. Tom avidly read science fiction in the dawn era of space exploration during the late fifties. After securing Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles, he worked at Eastman Kodak (Lunar Orbiter), Manned Spacecraft Center and Lowell observatory before landing at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. There, he experienced the defining moments of the Mariner, Viking and Surveyor spacecraft Mars expeditions. During this period, be began the endeavor of writing historical fiction concerning the adventures of the Darmon family and mysteries set worldwide within the first half of the nineteenth century.

The 1830's were a turbulent time in many countries. Nations struggled with self-government, having just emerged from colonialism or repressive monarchies. America, Greece, Brazil, Canada, and France were attempting democracies with unprecedented freedoms. Tensions flared between the royal traditionalists and the young radicals who tried to free themselves from the economic repression of landowners that dates back to feudalist middle ages. As a result, conspiracies abounded within governments and murders were common."

The Patriot Proposition was, by all accounts, a historical thriller! There's lots of action to keep the pages turning, and the main character, the prim and proper Elizabeth Darmon, is uncannily three-dimensional.  The novel's yoyo quality and pace keeps the reader intrigued page after page, and panoply of intriguing secrets: debt, kidnapping, impersonating killers, and deceit, make it a wild ride. "Elihu - Notes from Eternity"  is a provoking and disturbing    inquiry about ourselves and our role in the universe. By following Elihu's saga into different levels of consciousness, we can also follow the mankind's  mind process in search of Himself.

"Quantum mecanics" real scientific experience in the early eighty's, has proved that all phenomenons  (even  the ones that have surpassed the speed of light frontier) had never caused any desintegration, change or separation of any kind that had modified in any aspect the surface of the Universe. If any change had occurred  it could only be perceptive  or "interpreted" through the  eyes of the observer.
Based on this, all particles, facts or phenomenons of the Universe have always been interconnected as a "Whole Continuing Unified Being."

Until now, humankind has been finding through religion faith its sense of a meaningful existence. But from now on comes the time in which the western man, due to his cultural process and ability to use the both sides of his brain, to have a better and deeper comprehension of his essence. So, with a  balanced mixture of  reasoning  through Science,  and inner wisdom through  comtemplation, he will finally get in touch with his own IDENTITY.
Still this new view of the world and of himself (as the conscious particles of this whole Unity), now requires from him the responsability of how he is  going to conduct  this new consciousness, a natural  acceptance of it  and how to take the responsability of  his new role as the main "Creator".
It is a great work, it surprises us how such a "sophisticated" theme can be so deep and yet so simply written. It  will change your conception of yourself and your view of the Universe!

    ABOUT THE BOOK:

Life is like the tides. Things constantly appear and disappear in our consciousness. It is our attachment that wants to cling to the illusionary forms of appearances that we have become to see as reality. It is this same attachment that says ‘I’ and that stops the infinite flow of evolution, the infinite flow of life. When we begin to remember our original nature and surrender ourselves to the rhythms of the seasons, we become like the tides. We forget to associate ourselves with the wave, we become the water ourselves…
